Man Shot in the Face Outside of Sanctuary Church in Gresham

Monday, August 29, 2016

A 29-year-old man was shot in the face outside of Sanctuary Church early Monday morning following a fight with another man. The victim's condition is unknown, however, detectives believe he will survive.

The suspect, described as a white man in his early 20s, fled the area prior to police arrival. Investigators believe the suspect and the victim likely know each other.

The Incident

Officers responded to a 911 call at 1:53 a.m. on the church's property, by the "Red Barn" warehouse. The shooting appears to have happened outside, near the church's garden, as a result of an argument between the victim and the suspect. No one else at the location was threatened or hurt during the incident.

No further information is available at this time.

Sanctuary Church and its affiliated ministries are well known for outreach and support of those experiencing homelessness in East Multnomah County.
