Suspect Arrested After Fighting With Police

A 35-year-old armed man was arrested after fighting with police early on Sunday morning.

At 4 AM on Sunday, January 10, East Precinct officers responded a report of burglary in the area of Southeast 143rd Ave and Stephens Street. Officers came across a white 1993 Dodge pick-up truck with two men and one woman unloading items from the truck.

Police were checking ID of the three people when Joshua Lee Crocker started to run away from the officer.

The officer quickly caught up to him. Crocker swung at the officer and the pair was involve din a violent struggle. Other police responded to aid the first officer. During the struggle, one of the officers saw that Crocker was clenching a handgun between his thighs. The officer grabbed the gun and threw it away from the struggle as other workers took Crocker into custody.

Crocker was transported to a Portland hospital due to concerns from officers that Crocker was high on stimulants. 

Crocker was treated and released, then booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Assaulting a Police Officer (two counts), Resist Arrest, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
