Portland, Oregon ranks as the 17th best city for staycations in the country, according to a recent study done by Wallethub.

The category breakdown shows Portland ranking 31st in recreation, 5th in entertainment and 93rd in relaxation.

Portland ranks directly behind New Orleans, Louisiana and Jackson, Mississippi while ranking ahead of Reno, Nevada and Boise, Idaho. Orlando, Florida is ranked number 1.

The Method

To figure out the best stay cation spots, WalletHub's analysts compared the 150 most populated U.S. cities across three key dimensions including recreation, food and entertainment and rest and relaxation.

WalletHub identified 28 relevant metrics and gave each a value between 0 and 100, with 100 representing the most favorable conditions for stay cations and 0 the least.

WalletHub calculated the overall score for each city using the weighted average across all metrics and ranked the cities accordingly.
