Prudence- “My style icons are people who hangout by dumpsters and old cat ladies.”

Portland Threads is GoLocalPDX's weekly review of what Portlanders are wearing on the streets.

From Pioneer Courthouse Square, to Northwest 23rd to the Saturday Market, the people of Portland showed off their unique personal styles as well as this year’s trends.

This past year saw people of all ages and professions donning leather studded Dr. Martens, uncommon Goodwill finds, an assortment of Zara jackets, American Apparel basics, gifted treasures, and of course Portland made clothing.

See Slides Below: The Best of Portland Threads 2014

The strongest looks were those that combined different patterned and thrifted finds, as well as the all black ensembles, because lets face it: black is always chic and effortless.

Each subject had a different approach of telling me their stories and posing for the camera. Some smiled and beamed with happiness like Devonte Hart (now known for the “Free Hugs” during Portland's Ferguson protests), while others looked mysteriously straight in the camera with a semi smile, or shyly looked away.

After scouting the streets of Portland, finding best dressed Portlanders, transplants, and tourists alike, here are the top 11 standouts of 2014.
