Fire Destroys Washington County Home
Monday, November 16, 2015
Troy Tidwell, who owned the home, was in a nearby shop when the fire broke out, according to Tulatin Valley Fire Investigator Doug Nolan. Tidwell heard a sound and when he stepped outside to see what caused the noise, he saw flames coming from his windows.
Tidwell attempted to enter the home through the front door to retrieve some of his belongings and work tools, but was quickly turned back by the fire’s smoke and heat.
Engine companies responded to the report of a fire from Tidwell’s neighbor, Lincoln Hupp, as part of a mutual aid agreement with Washington County Fire District #2. Fire crews were able to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to other buildings, but could not salvage Tidwell’s home.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze. Washington County Fire District #2 reminds all residents that in the case of a home or structure fire, it is best to evacuate and remain away from the fire until help arrives.
