Newsies

The cast of "Newsies"

U.S. Bank Broadway in Portland announced its 2015/16 Season this weekend, and the new lineup is a heady mix of old and new Broadway hits.

Old-timers, like “42nd Street,” will hit the stage alongside the popular child-centric, classic “Annie.” Speaking of children, another child-fueled show, “Newsies,” will appear on the Keller Auditorium for the very first time.

This season’s other can’t miss shows include a coming of age story, that incorporates the dance styles of Fosse with circus-y acrobatics in “Pippin.”

In the spring watch what has become essentially the stage sequel to “Wicked” and take a journey down the yellow brick road with Dorothy and Toto as they go in search of “The Wizard of Oz.” Music lovers will also be able to sing along to other familiar classics in the song and dance experience that is the record-breaking smash hit “Motown The Musical.”

Other big hits that have been big hits in Portland before and are sure to be again include the 20th Anniversary tour of “Riverdance,” “Disney’s Beauty and The Beast” presented by NETworks and the return of the world’s #1 musical, “Disney’s The Lion King.”

By popular demand, “The Book of Mormon,” which played a record breaking runs in 2013 and 2014 returns to Portland for a limited engagement.

6-Show packages are now available by calling 503-241-1802; or subscribe online at BroadwayInPortland.com. “Riverdance,”  “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” “The Book of Mormon” and “Disney’s The Lion King” are not part of the 6-show package.
