Alright, you've eaten your hopefully delicious Thanksgiving dinner and spent some time going over what you're thankful for. Now what do you do? You could relax and spend some time digesting all that turkey. Or you could head out into the city to continue the holiday celebration.

Macy's Holiday Parade

Attending Portland's very own Macy's Holiday Parade is the perfect alternative to watching the NYC Macy's parade on television. The parade will feature 25 inflatable floats, nearly 650 costumed characters, marching bands from local middle and high schools, and guest appearance by Santa Claus at the very end. The parade will make its way through downtown Portland, looping between the Southwest and Northwest quadrants. Friday Nov. 28, 9-10 am, parade starts on NW DAvis St. and Park Ave., FREE

Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pioneer Square

You know it, you love it, you attend every year. The image of the brightly-lit tree illuminating downtown Portland has become an iconic image of Portland during the holidays, and on Friday evening, the 30th annual tree lighting of the 75 foot Douglas Fir currently standing in Pioneer Square will take place, marking the end of Thanksgiving and ushering in the start of the December holiday season. Friday Nov. 28, 5:30-6:30 pm, Pioneer Square, FREE. Click HERE for more information.

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia is one of those musicals that never gets old, no matter how many times you hear "Dancing Queen" on the radio. The story of one young woman's quest to identify her father from 3 possible candidates by inviting them to attend her upcoming wedding, this show is as off-the-walls and touching as ever. Plus the entire score is comprised of ABBA songs. Really, what more could you ask for in a musical? Mamma Mia opened earlier this week and will be only be running through Thanksgiving weekend, so make sure to get tickets before you run out of time! Tuesday Nov. 25 - Sat. Nov. 29 at 7:30 pm, Sunday Nov. 30 at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm, Keller Auditorium, 222 SW Clay St. Click HERE for ticket information.

La Fete du Macaron

Ah, macarons. A classy dessert item that can't shake its status in the U.S. food scene as the red-headed stepchild to the all-encompassing and powerful behemoth that is the cupcake. The Portland restaurant Pix Patisserie, which specializes in French desserts, will be holding an event honoring the macaron featuring a display of 30 different flavors ranging from traditional to obscure, deep-friend macaronss, and a contest for creating a new macaron flavor. Best of all, any attendant who stomps on a cupcake gets a free macaron. Saturday Nov. 29, all day, 2225 E Burnside St., FREE. Click HERE for more details.

Stumptown Speakeasy

Prohibition may have ended over sixty years ago, but that's no reason not to celebrate the anniversary of the repeal of the 18th Amendment. Harkening back to the 1920s and 30s, "Stumptown Speakeasy" at the Crystal Ballroom will be a wild, fun-filled event of music, dancing, and alcohol alsongside featured musical guest The Two Man Gentlemen Band. The number of musicians, dancers, and DJs performing at this event is no joke, so be prepared to swing dance the night away. The event is open to all ages. Sunday Nov. 30, 3 pm - midnight, McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St., $10. Click HERE for ticket information.
