After a long week sometimes all you want to do is hibernate in bed. But don't do that! You'll miss out on some great Portland events that will spice up your weekend. And luckily, GoLocalPDX has made it easy for you. Here are five fun things to do this weekend.

The Rocky Horror Show

This weekend Live on Stage presents the stage version of the classic film "Rocky Horror Picture Show." A raunchy, sexy, rock musical that has mezmerized crowds for decades, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple who get caught in a storm and seek refuge at the home of a quirky, and a bit mad, transvestite scientist, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who reveals his latest creation: a muscle man named "Rocky."

Lena Dunham at Portland's Center for the Arts

Lena Dunham, the creator and star of HBO's hit series "Girls," will be joined by Carrie Brownstein, star of IFC's "Portlandia" in discussion of Dunham's new memoir Not that Kind of Girl. The hilarious duo converse about Dunham's frank collection of personal essays about NYC, sex, life, and more. Dunham has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards and is the winner of two Golden Globes, including Best Actress for her work on Girls. She has also written and directed two feature-length films, and is now a voice in the literary world.

Tickets include a copy of Dunham's book, distributed at the event. Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway, 7:30 PM, Sunday Oct. 19.

Michael Clark Company

It’s been a long time coming, but Michael Clark has finally made his way onto Portland’s dance stages. White Bird is presenting the Pacific Northwest debut of Great Britain’s Michael Clark Company with his full-evening dance “work come, been and gone,” featuring the music of legendary rock star David Bowie. Hailed as “British dance’s true iconoclast,” Michael Clark is a defining cultural figure of the UK. His distinctive choreography has been marked by a thrilling mixture of technical rigor and experimentation, intersecting with punk, Dada, pop and rock. The Guardian (UK) has hailed his six-member company of highly gifted dancers for their “prodigious command and affectless efficiency making them look superhuman.”  The Independent (UK) says of "come, been and gone", “These dances are full of sharp footwork and bold classical line. It’s the best thing he [Clark] has done in years.” The striking lighting design is by famed video artist Charles Atlas.

Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway, 7:30 PM, Fri.-Sat. Oct. 17-18. $26 and up, available at whitebird.org
