Lunarness Mendoza, 32

Authorities arrested a Portland man after he allegedly exposed himself in a park and stole a taser from a responding police officer, police said..

Officers arrested Lunarness Mendoza, 32, on charges of indecent exposure, theft and assaulting a public safety officer, according to police.

Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau said more charges may still be pending.

Officers responded to reports that a man was exposing himself to children in a park at NE 13 Avenue and Multnomah Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday.

When an officer responded, Mendoza had removed all of his clothing. When the officer drew her taser, Mendoza charged her and wrestled the device away, according to police. The officer was able to disarm the device before Mendoza gained control.

Mendoza then tried to enter a patrol car, but it was locked.

The officer called for backup, and when additional officers arrived on the scene Mendoza surrendered without further incident. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The officer was treated and released at a Portland hospital for minor injuries.
