Organize + Energize: ThredUp - One of the Easiest Ways to Sell Your Clothes
Tuesday, March 01, 2016
Almost 2 years ago, I wrote an article here about selling your clothes online using the website LikeTwice.com. It was the easiest and most efficient way to sell your clothes. Well, to my surprise, I went to request another bag from them this past summer, and I found out that they are no longer in business. They have merged with EBay Valet (which is a much more tedious and time consuming process). I was a little upset because the format of LikeTwice worked so well for me and many of my clients. I was determined to find another efficient way to sell my clothes! A few months ago, I found one! The website is ThredUp.com.
The process can’t get any easier than this:
Go to the website. Get familiar with the website. Check out which brands they take and which ones they don’t. Create an account for yourself and then head over to the sell tab. ThredUp will send you a bag with a postage paid label affixed to it.
You’ll receive your bag. All you have to do is fill the bag, seal it and drop it off at the post office or FedEx for quicker processing. Everything is paid for. Yes, it’s that simple.
They will make you an offer. Once your items have been received, you’ll get an email stating which clothes they accepted and the amount of money they will pay you for your clothes. You can either opt for a check or get a credit to purchase items on their website. I’ve always taken the check and I’ve always been happy with the payout.
Accept the offer. All you have to do is accept the offer. If you want to purchase items on their website, you can use your credit right away to do that. If you want to cash out and receive a check, you just have to wait 14 days.
You can’t get any easier than this. You can send any type of clothes regardless of the season; they just have to be clean, in current fashion and good condition. You’ll no longer have to hold onto clothes waiting for your appointment at the consignment shop and you’ll save a trip. Also, how long do you usually wait for your check from the consignment store? You’ll have a check in your hand in a few weeks from ThredUp.com.
Stay organized during this process. Write down all of the items you are sending. Once you drop off your bag at FedEx or the Post Office, staple the receipt to your list to keep track of your package. Use your list to review everything and cross out what they kept and what they didn’t.
There are so many ways to sell things today. Who wants to get in the car and meet a stranger in a parking lot or worse have them come to your home to buy your things? This is the easiest and most efficient way to sell your clothes!
I’m not getting any perks from ThredUp to write this article. I love this process so much that I had to share it with you. I’ve shared it with my clients and now I’m sharing it with you. If you use this service, email me and let me know how it worked for you.
