Portland Fire and Rescue Responds to Rail Car Fire

Responders received the report of a single two-level sleeper car that was burning near the Amtrak Station at 4:17 PM on Tuesday. The Amtrak station is located at 80 NW 6th Avenue.
When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the rail car. The rest of the train had already been disconnected from the car.
Crews began pulling hose lines and extinguishing the fire. The car had no occupants inside as fire crews arrived and there are no reported injuries.
Portland Fire and Rescue Investigators are working with railroad officials in determining the cause of the fire.
