US Women's Soccer calls soccer federation's pay claim 'a Ruse'

The U.S. Soccer Federation's president says the women's team made more money than the men's team. Carlos Cordeiro said the women made $34.1 million from 2010-2018, while the men were paid $26.4 million during the same time frame.

Molly Levinson, the spokesperson for U.S. women's soccer, called Cordeiro's claims a "ruse."

Levinson is representing U.S. women's soccer in a gender discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation.

The USWNT was vocal about pay discrimination throughout the 2019 Women's World Cup. The United States defeated the Netherlands 2-0 to win their second straight World Cup title.
