Urban League Celebrates Opening of East County Office with Community Fair

In an attempt to connect with the local neighborhood and community, the Urban League will host the local East County residents, offering free food and a community-centered atmosphere. Resources for understanding services offered by the Urban League will also be available.
“The Urban League of Portland’s mission is to empower African Americans and others to achieve equality in education, employment, health, economic security and quality of life,” says the Urban League website.
The Urban League was founded in Portland in 1945 and is one of the oldest African American advocacy groups in the area. In addition to advocacy, the Urban League also offers health services, services for seniors, employment aid, and youth programs.
The event will take place at Rosewood Initiative, 16126 SE Stark St. Portland, OR 97233 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
