Man Commits Suicide in Tualatin River

Tigard Police arrived at the boat launch area of Cook Park in Tigard and spoke to witnesses. Those witnesses told police that a man had jumped into the river and was being carried quickly downriver.
Tualatin Fire and Rescue arrived shortly after the police and launched their boat in an effort to find the man in the fast-moving river.
Not long after, the body of a 61-year-old Tigard man was recovered by rescue personnel. Police learned from witnesses and a close acquaintance of the victim that he had intentionally jumped into the river.
A medical examiner’s determination regarding an exact cause of death is pending.
