Former City Employee Pleads Guilty to 2009 Pakistan Bombing

Friday, February 13, 2015

A former city employee, Reaz Qadir Khan, pleaded guilty for his participation in the 2009 bombing of intelligence services headquarters in Pakistan, according to the City of Portland.

Kahn, a former employee in the Bureau of Environmental Services, had been on a unpaid leave of absence following his arrest in March 2013, according to Dana Haynes, communications director for Mayor Hales.

The City, Kahn, and the union agreed Kahn’s employment would be terminated if his trial resulted in a guilty verdict, plea, or jury finding, Haynes said.  Effective Friday, Feb. 13, Kahn is no longer a city employee.

The City said in a media statement they had no comment in regard to the accusations and actions surrounding the 2009 Pakistani bombing.
