Salem Hospital Makes List of Top Orthopedic Programs

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Salem Hospital has been named one of 125  "hospitals and health systems with great orthopedic programs" by a leading national publication.

Becker's Hospital Review has put Salem Hospital on the list with Mayo Clinic, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic, to reflect its "excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations and high volume of orthopedic cases."  It's the only Oregon hospital to make the list.

"It's a mark of distinction for our Joint Replacement Center of Excellence to be among the nation's top hospitals for orthopedic care," said Deni Hoover, director of orthopedics, rehabilitation, and neuroscience services at Salem Health. "Salem Hospital and our orthopedic surgeon partners have put in a great deal of collaborative effort over the past years to provide our patients with an exceptional experience."

"It is an honor for our program to be recognized nationally for the patient-centered care that we deliver to our orthopedic joint replacement patients," said Mark Dolan, MD, orthopedic surgeon with Hope Orthopedics of Oregon, and medical director of Salem Hospital's Joint Replacement Center of Excellence. "It is a tribute to the entire team that provides care to these patients and their expertise and experience that allow them to deliver such wonderful care."

In February 2012, Salem Hospital's Joint Replacement Center of Excellence became the first in Oregon to earn the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval(TM) for certification in total hip and knee replacements - the first in the state of Oregon, according to Becker's Hospital Review. In March of this year, the Joint Commission announced its recertification of Salem Hospital's joint replacement program.
