Assistant Wrestling Coach Arrested
Friday, October 02, 2015
DeRemer worked as an assistant wrestling coach for Gresham High School during part of the 2014-2015 school year, ending in March. He coached wrestling through the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) Program at Clear Creek Middle School and Dexter McCarty Middle School. He also volunteered with the Eastside Elite Mat Club.
The Gresham-Barlow School District has made it clear that DeRemer only worked as an assistant wrestling coach for the school district and was not on the teaching staff.
The Gresham Police Department is searching for any other victims and has requested that anyone with additional information call Detective Aaron Turnage at 503-823-0189.
“We are shocked and concerned about these charges,” said Gresham High School Principal John Koch. “We will be doing all we can to support our students.”
Counselors are available at Gresham High School, Clear Creek Middle School, and Dexter McCarty Middle School for students seeking support.
