This weekend take your family to
Washington Park Amphitheater to enjoy an immensely popular summertime LGBT variety show.
The annual daylight drag extravaganza is expected to draw in a crowd of nearly 5,000 people.
Peacock Productions will be presenting Peacock In The Park this Sunday. There will be concessions, live music, dancers and of course, drag entertainers.
Hosted by Maria Peters Lake and Poison Waters, Peacock in the Park was founded in 1987 by the much missed Lady Elaine Peacock and ran for 18 years. Due to popular demand, Peacock in the Park returned in 2014.
This is a free event, but keep in mind that this is a fundraiser to send LGBTQ students to college, so donations are highly encouraged. All the net proceeds will benefit the Audria M. Edwards Fund. Since 1992 this fund has given over $224,000 to LGBTQ students or students of LGBTQ parents.
Last year 11 students were granted scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.
Temperatures could exceed 100 degrees over the weekend, and the amphitheater offers little shade; attendees are encouraged to plan accordingly.
The Washington Park Amphitheater is located at 410 SW Kingston Avenue in Portland. The amphitheater will officially open at 7:30am, and the show will begin at noon.
