Laugh for a Good Cause at Hilarity Benefitting Charity
Monday, November 16, 2015
The show will raise money for Vida’s Ark, a homeless shelter for teen mothers and their children. It will be headlined by Amy Miller, a contestant on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and voted Portland’s funniest comedian.
Miller will be joined at the event by opening acts Bri Pruett and Virgina Jones, two hilarious performers in their own right, and the show will be hosted by Shannan Hunt.
Pruett has appeared at Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the All Jane Comedy Festival and Bumbershoot, and can be regularly seen at the Helium Comedy Club and the Curious Comedy Theatre. Jones is a veteran comedian, appearing in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York and more.
Founded in 2007, Vida’s Ark is an entirely volunteer run shelter, and one of only two maternity homes in the Clark County area. The shelter strives to provide safe, supportive living conditions while teaching young mothers life and parenting skills to become self-sufficient, educated and healthy parents.
“We are striving to change the perception that teen mothers have limited options,” said Hope Baker, the co-founder of Vida’s Ark. “We provide a home, a place that is safe, and a place where they are encouraged and empowered. We are a family.”
The laughter kicks off at 8 PM on Thursday, November 19 at the Kiggins Theatre, located at 1011 Main Street. For more information, visit the Vida's Ark website.
