Queer Film Festival

Formerly known as the Portland Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, the prominent Queer Film Festival is making its way back to Portland for its 18th year. All features, documentaries, and short films are from all over the world and made about or by lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and the questioning community.

So, get inspired, intrigued, and educated by getting over to this festival. Bring your friends and families to support the community, allies, and local businesses.

Design Week Portland 

Portland is known for evolving in all aspects and Design Week Portland proves the point once again. The week explores the creative process, craft, interactive events, installations, conservations, and much more. Portland has always been different, and the creative minds of the city are coming together to keep it that way.

The Turn

This group of theatre folk are putting on yet another great production. Adapted from Henry James’s classic Turn of the Screw, there have been a few additions as well as elements of Stanley Kubrick’s "The Shining." It's a perfect kick-off to the haunting month of October: Get ready to sit on the edge of your seat watching these great performers put on this dark production.

Live Wire Radio: Live Show

Known as radio for the new(ish) millennium, Live Wire Radio is staging a live show, and you have got to get over to see some great talks given by Steve Almond, Georgina Hayns, Nicholas Kristof, and many others. There won’t only be speakers there, there will also be live music.

So, let’s enjoy the controversy, the music, and the community.

What? Can’t make it to the Live Wire Radio Live Show?

Well, here’s some good news for you: Bestselling author Steve Almond appears at Literary Arts with "The Half-Life" author Jon Raymond to discuss his book "Against Football: One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto," as well as discuss sports in general and the American soul. Both of these authors will read from their work and then open up a discussion on sports and its place in our society.
