5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend: September 4th-6th

This weekend is dedicated to the faeries, the flappers, the anime enthusiasts, the art connoisseurs and the beat poets. Here are five fun festivals to usher in the Fall season with.

Faerieworlds 2015

Horning's Hideout in North Plains will be the home to Faerieworlds 2015: A Gathering of Tribes, from September 4th to the 6th. 

Featuring Wardruna(Norway), Faun(Germany), Martine Kraft(Norway), Zirp(Germany)  Woodland(USA), Delhi 2 Dublin (Canada), Folk Noir (Germany) and many more, this festival has been dubbed "A bonnaroo staged for Middle Earth" by Maxim magazine. 

Festivalgoers will camp for three days and nights by a forested lake, all while having access to 150+ craft, food, and artist booths. Multiple stages will host music and "mythical entertainment" from around the world.

Pink Lady Presents The Cats Meow

The Secret Society in NE Portland will take a tumble back in time this Saturday, as the club will host Pink Lady Presents The Cat's Meow, a live variety entertainment & classic burlesque event. This is the debut show of the new monthly event.  

The event will feature Pink Lady DiAnn, the John Bennett Jazz Band, Zora Von Pavonine, and a special guest performance by Charlotte Treuse.

Kumoricon

Gaining its namesake from the Japanese word for "cloudy," Kumoricon is celebrating its thirteenth year as one of the biggest gatherings for anime lovers and fans of Japanese culture in the Pacific Northwest.

Featuring cosplay chess, karaoke, a gala "KumoriBall" masquerade event, and much more, this annual event returns to Vancouver to provide a place for all members of its fandom to gather.

Art in the Pearl

Portland's annual Fine Arts & Crafts Festival is undergoing its 19th year this weekend, as Art in the Pearl once again takes over the North Park Blocks. 

Named one of the country's top ten Arts and Crafts festivals, Art in the Pearl will feature over 100 artists showing and selling their work, a singer/songwriter stage featuring original music, an education pavilion and food and drink. 

Art in the Pearl is a free community event.

National Beat Poetry Festival: PDX Edition

The National Beat Poetry is holding its Oregon edition in Portland this Sunday.

Hosted by Camille Perry, the evening will feature a bold collection of literary adventurers, explorers of the documented word. Engage and encourage these inspiring wordsmiths in their quest to conquer the indominatable nature of a benign existence. Breathe in the fire of your fellow man and feel a spark lit inside your own soul!

There will also be music provided by Joseph Fisher, Dave Kelsay, and Robert Castillo, in addition to the full roster of talented local beat poets and performers.
