Oregon Has the 11th Best Taxpayer Return on Investment in the US

A new study from WalletHub used 22 metrics to compare the quality and efficiency of state government services across six distinct categories – Infrastructure, Education, Health, Safety, Economy and Pollution – taking into account the drastically different rates at which citizens are taxed in each state.

Overall, Oregon ranked #11 in the nation when it comes to taxpayer return on investment. This makes it the highest ranked state on the West Coast besides Alaska, which came in at #1. Washington came in at #22, and California was tied for #13 with Vermont. Oregon’s neighbor to the east, Idaho, came in at #5.
The only category in which Oregon was ranked low was general economy, where the state came in at #44.
The best state for taxpayer return on investment in the US was Alaska, and the worst was Arkansas.
