Portland Designers Launch New Retail Shop SIX/SEVEN

Clothing designer Liza Rietz and jewelry designer Emily Bixler have joined forces to open retail store SIX/SEVEN on East Burnside.

“Our collaboration came together quite naturally,” said jewelry designer and sculptor Emily Bixler. “We both share a very similar aesthetic and design inspirations -- often times we surprise ourselves at how well our designs complement each other.”

Liza Rietz has been designing clothing in Oregon since 2002. Her garments are elegant interpretations of sculptural silhouettes, with a black, white and brown color palette.

“Liza is very good at offering a range of shapes and styles to her clothing. She always has something geared for every woman,” said Bixler.

Emily Bixler has been making jewelry under the name BOET since 2010. Her love of sailing and hot-air ballooning have inspired her to create large crocheted jewelry involving a mix of vintage chains and geometric shapes.

“I have always wanted to offer large shapes that play off the composition of the body - but are quiet enough that you don't feel the jewelry is wearing you out on the town,” said Bixler.

SIX/SEVEN combines clothing, jewelry and sculpture with some of the production taking place at the store. The shop will showcase three lines; Liza Rietz, BOET jewelry, and their clothing collaboration house-line, 6/7. Everything will be handmade, sold exclusively at the shop and not mass-produced.

“Our 6/7 line has a great mix of style - some very edgy and playful,” said Bixler. “We create items that make a statement without speaking loud.”

Come out to the grand opening party tonight to enjoy oysters, drinks and lots of yummy bites by Field Day. The party will also include a fashion presentation of the full 6/7 house-line collection, and the new fall collections. Don’t forget to grab a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift certificate for the new 6/7 line.

Stop by SIX/SEVEN grand opening party on November 14th, from 5 PM- 9 PM, at 811 E Burnside #111 in Portland. For more information click here.

"I'm a big fan of the Side Grill, it is a great blend of tough and playful with the heavy vintage brass chain and silk tassels. It puts a strut in your step," said Emily Bixler.
