Funhouse Lounge Presents Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

Why should superheroes always get the glory?

Throughout July and August Funhouse Lounge will be presenting Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. This theatrical performance follows the story of an upcoming super villain who continually has his plans thwarted by the dashing Captain Hammer. Dr. Horrible also has to compete with Captain Hammer for the attention of his laundromat crush, Penny. If Dr. Horrible can find a way to defeat his superhero arch nemesis he will finally be accepted into the Evil League of Evil and earn the respect of Penny. 

Throughout the performance there will be additional songs, spectacular dance numbers and plenty of laughs.  

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog stars Isaac Frank as Dr. Horrible, Landy Steckmann as Penny and Jacob Kasch as Captain Hammer. The show is directed by Trenton Shine. 

In July there will be performances on the 16th, 17th,18th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 30th anf the 31st. Throughout August the performances will be the 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th and 29th. All shows will begin at 7pm at 2432 SE 11th Avenue. Tickets are $16-$20 in advance or $20-$24 at the door. Also, Thursdays will be "Pay What You Want" at the door as long as tickets are available.

Did we also mention that there would be special Gender Swap performances as well? On August 13th, 14th and 15th. Dr. Horrible will be played by Landy Steckmann, Penny will be played by Isaac Frank and Captain Hammer will be played by Sara Elizabeth.

The colorful characters are complemented by Michael Bottari and Ronald Case’s imaginative costumes – from zoot suits to show girls to the Salvation Army – bringing audiences back to 1940s and the mythical “Runyeonland.”

A true Broadway classic, Guys and Dolls has stood the test of time, and continues to be adored by audiences of all ages. The show premiered in November 1950 – a production that won five Tony Awards including Best New Musical – and has been revived many times, both on Broadway and London’s West End. It was also the inspiration for the 1955 film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
