Warren Releases $52 Trillion “Medicare-For-All” Healthcare Plan

Saturday, November 02, 2019

Elizabeth Warren

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren released the details of her healthcare plan on Friday.

The “Medicare-for-all” plan would cost just under $52 trillion over ten years.

“Today, I’m releasing my plan to pay for Medicare For All. Here’s the headline: My plan won’t raise taxes one penny on middle-class families. In fact, we’ll return about $11 trillion to the American people. That’s bigger than the biggest tax cut in our history,” said Warren in a tweet early Friday morning.

According to Warren’s plan, there would be no middle-class tax increases, and she would "return $11 trillion in household expenses back to families.:

“My Medicare-for-all plan would end the stranglehold of health costs on American families. I would return a whopping $11 trillion for families who will never pay another premium or medical bill. It would be one of the greatest federal expansions of middle-class wealth in history,” said Warren in a tweet.

According to Warren, her plan would also reduce insurer administrative costs, and introduce comprehensive payment reform.

“Achieving Medicare-for-all isn’t going to be easy, but I’m in this race to fight for American families. In the coming weeks, I will also release a transition plan - and I will start lowering healthcare costs and increasing coverage as soon as I’m sworn in as president, “ said Warren.

Other parts of Warren’s plan include restoring healthcare competition, halting the growth of medical costs, and redirecting taxpayer-funded health spending.

Warren concluded, “I am fighting for Medicare-for-all. I have the only detailed plan to pay for it. We are the only Democratic primary campaign that has laid out the true, full costs of any healthcare plan, Medicare-for-all or otherwise. I look forward to others doing the same.”
