Business Insider used data for each state from the Minnesota Population Center and a Census Bureau survey to determine what college majors stood out. A state's favorite major was determined when students in a given state gravitated to one type of major at a rate much higher than the national average.

The study also determined the most common majors in each state, but the results were "much more monotone," states the study.

The most common major in Oregon was psychology, according to Business Insider. Business management and administration was the most common major in 35 states.
