The study only ranked places with over 5,000 residents, and it excluded 33 places that lacked rent-to-price ratio data or median rent figures. Towns and cities were ranked based on factors including the percentage of rentable housing available, median household income, median cost of rent, rent as a percentage of income and average commute times.
The analysis shows that most of the top 20 cities in which to rent in Oregon tend to be in the North around Portland, and in the Southern part of the state. Three of the top five places for renters are in Greater Portland’s Washington County. Portland itself however, is 29 on the list.
