Portland Police to Host Prescription Drug Turn in Event on April 30

The Portland Police Bureau will host a prescription drug turn in and shred event on Saturday, April 30 at the Southeast Precinct, located at 4735 East Burnside Street.
During the event, community members can come and drop off unwanted or expired drugs for safe disposal and unwanted sensitive documents for secure shredding on site.
What to Bring, What Not to Bring
Acceptable items for the prescription drug turn in include any prescription medications and samples, over the counter medications, vitamins, pet medications, medicated ointments, and liquid medication in leak proof containers.
Items that are not accepted include thermometers, sharps, syringes, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, inhalers and epipens.
Safety
Keeping sensitive documents and prescription meds out of the hands of people who may misuse them is an important technique for preventing fraud and drug abuse.
Sunshine Division donation barrels will be available for donations of caned food, dry pasta, and gently used clothing for families in need. Tax deduction forms will be provided.
The event serves as a partnership between the City of Portland Office of Neighborhood Involvement Crime Prevention Program, the Portland Police Bureau, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Portland Police Bureau's Sunshine Division, and Wells Fargo.
