St. Andrew Legal Clinic Fundraiser Breaks Records, Entertains
Monday, November 24, 2014
St. Andrew Legal Clinic is a public interest law firm providing legal services to low-income families since 1979. The Clinic bridges the gap between those who may not qualify for legal aid but who cannot afford private legal services. Clinic lawyers advocate for clients on issues of adoption, child custody and support, protection orders, guardianship, parenting time, and spousal support. Since its inception 34 years ago, St. Andrew Legal Clinic has provided legal services to well over 50,000 Oregon clients and their families.
The Tabor Jazz Trio kept the crowd’s toes tapping during the champagne reception, silent auction, and live auction preview as attendees perused the dozens of offerings including wine, spectacular travel packages, intimate group dinners and sporting events.
This was an evening of exceptional wine and food served up in a spirited, supportive and festive manner. Brenda Braxton emceed the event with her usual panache and auctioneer Steven Talbot worked his well-known magic with the crowd, whipping them up into a giving frenzy of benevolence that broke all previous fundraising records by more than $40,000.
Supported by law firms and businesses including Markowitz Herbold PC, Alliance Insurance Group, and Pacific Office Automation, the Taste of Justice is St. Andrew Legal Clinic’s largest annual fundraiser, generating a significant portion of the money needed to keep the clinic doors open.
Feisty and friendly competitive bidding and challenge bidding (started by yours truly!) resulted in $210,000 in donations and set new expectations for an even more successful Taste for Justice in 2015.
