This weekend you can help break a world record, attend a free street fair or even participate in a trivia night based off the Jurassic Park/World films. Make this a weekend one to remember!

Worldwide Waffles: Make Breakfast In Bed History

Do you want to be a part of history? This Friday head over to Pioneer Courthouse Square and help break the world record for the biggest breakfast in bed party. All you need to bring are your pajamas, sunscreen, water and your ticket. It’s not every day that you can help break a world record!

The Lego Movie At Kenilworth Park

End your week on a high note! This Saturday there will be a free showing of The Lego Movie at Kenilworth Park. The Lego Movie, which is rated PG, has grossed over $250 million dollars worldwide. Mississippi Street Fair

Don’t miss out on this year’s Mississippi Street Fair. As of now there will be around 200 vendors, over 40 bands and 6 new stages. The legendary Grandfather’s Rib Off Competition will also be taking place, so make sure your recipes are ready to go!

The Zac Brown Band

The award winning country band, The Zac Brown Band, will be taking their tour to Amphitheater Northwest in Ridgefield, Washington. This tour will feature songs off of their new album, Jekyll + Hyde. Pack a little bit of chicken fried and head up north for night full of country music.

Calling all dinosaur lovers! This weekend there will be a trivia challenge that will put your knowledge of the Jurassic Park films to the test. Questions will be based on all 4 films. Make sure to brush up on your Jurassic Park/World history before you show up.

Portland Thunder

One of Portland’s newest franchises will be continuing with their season through the summer. The Portland Thunder is an indoor arena football team that completed their inaugural season last year. To the surprise of many, they ended up making the playoffs during the 2014 season. This summer will be extremely important if they have hopes of returning to the playoffs.

World Naked Bike Ride

The naked bike ride has drawn more than 8,000 participants in past years. Hopefully, this year is no different. If you’re comfortable bearing it all, feel free to come out and join in on this annual bike ride. The only stipulation is that you need to wear as little clothing as possible. Obviously helmets, shoes and pads are encouraged, but after that it’s entirely up to you.

Mississippi Street Fair

One of the city’s biggest street fairs will be returning to Portland this summer. The Mississippi Street Fair will be on N. Mississippi Avenue from N. Fremont to N. Skidmore. Guests can expect over 200 vendors, 40 plus bands, dunk tanks and beer and wine gardens.

Sand In The City

This year will mark the 20th Anniversary of Yoshida’s Sand in the City. At this event corporate teams are matched with the design expertise of local architectural firms. Each team will then receive training and support as they prepare for the July sand castle competition. 100% of the proceeds will go directly back into the community. Last year, five charities received grants totaling $114,000. It will prove to be a must-see summer showdown!

Cathedral Park Jazz Fest.

The Cathedral Park Jazz Festival is the West’s largest and oldest free celebration of jazz and blues. Not only will the evening be filled with great music, but also amazing scenery.

Oregon Brewers Festival

The month of July is considered to be Oregon Craft Beer Month. In lieu of this the Oregon Brewers Festival will be at the Waterfront on July 22nd through July 26th. In the past, this five-day event has brought in over 85,000 attendees and around 86 breweries.

This independent music festival will feature over 50 local artists within a 2-day period. This festival, which has been going on since 1998, was created in order to create a connection between Portland-based artists and their audiences. The best part is that this event if free!

Flicks On The Bricks

This year, Flicks on the Bricks will be returning to Pioneer Courthouse Square. On five consecutive Fridays between July and August there will be a free movie shown on Portland’s largest outdoor screen. To make this movie night even better there will also be free popcorn. Festival of Balloons

Get down to Cook Park, located in Tigard, on June 26th through the 28th in order to participate in the annual Festival of Balloons. Although balloons highlight this event, there will also be plenty of other activities for the entire family to enjoy. The money raised from this event will go toward non-profit groups in Tigard.

Providence Bridge Pedal

Have you ever wanted to be the first one to cross a bridge before it opens? Well, this event may be for you! On Sunday, August 9th the Providence Bridge Pedal will be taking a trip across Tilikum Crossing. The Tilikum Crossing is a new bridge that is expected to open in September 2015. Participants will have the opportunity to walk or bike during this event.

Adult Soapbox Derby

How does acting like a kid for the day sound? Well, you’ll have that opportunity on August 15th. Adults who have designed and assembled their own soapboxes can compete against other soapbox racers.
