NEW: Duck Players Face Disciplinary Action for Post-Game Chant

Friday, January 02, 2015

Oregon Duck players celebrating after their 59-20 win against the defending national championship Florida State Seminoles. The win snapped FSU's 29-game win streak.

Several Oregon Duck football players who were video taped mocking Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston after the Ducks’ blowout win in the Rose Bowl will face internal disciplinary action, Coach Mark Helfrich announced in a statement to the press.

Videos posted online showed several Oregon players chanting, “No means no,” to the tune of the famous Florida State Seminole tomahawk chant. The video was shot during the on-field celebration of Oregon’s 59-20 win, after most Florida State players didn’t take part in the post-game tradition of shaking hands with their opponent.

Winston, 20, was accused of sexual assault against another FSU student in 2013. The State Attorney’s office ultimately chose to refrain from filing charges against Winston pertaining to the case.

Winston was also cleared of violating FSU’s student code conduct in the school’s investigative hearing last month, Fox Sports reported. The woman who accused Winston of assaulting her has the opportunity to appeal the school's decision until Jan. 13, according to the school’s student handbook.

There’s no official word on what disciplinary actions the Duck players may face for their post-game chant, nor how many players were involved, representatives from Oregon's Athletic Dept. said.
