Portland Film Festival Plans Zombie Extra World Record

Friday, July 31, 2015

Break the world record on Zombie Day

Do you want to make history but don’t know how? Fear not! For the price of a zombie costume, you can satisfy this itching.

On Monday, September 7th, the Portland Film Festival will attempt one of its most impressive feats: the largest sampling of zombie-dressed extras in one location at one time. Ever. The scorekeepers at the Guinness Book of World Records have already been forewarned, and representatives will be on hand to count the number of extras present.

Extras will be part of a short zombie movie being filmed by George C. Romero, the son of the director of "Night of the Living Dead."

For those wanting to take place in the event, signing up to participate is easy and highly recommended. “Zombie Day Apocalypse perfectly captures the renegade spirit and vision of the Portland Film Festival,” says festival founder Josh Leake. “I invite all zombie lovers, cinema fans, and filmmakers from around the world to join us in creating an unforgettable zombie film experience this Labor Day.”

Participants in the event will be greeted by Award-winning makeup artists from The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner and are eligible to attend a late-night zombie film graveyard screening. How fitting.

September 7th, location to be revealed during Portland Film Festival (September 1-7)
