Oregon Ranked 3rd Worst State in the Union For Doctors

Throughout the United States the medical field is one of the most celebrated lines of work. Doctors are highly regarded by society because of their work associated with our everyday life.

Unfortunately for Oregon, we were ranked as one of the one of the worst states for doctors according to Wallethub.com. The overall ranking has Oregon as the third worst state for doctors, (or the 49th best.) The study ranked all 50 states and D.C., and only New Jersey and Rhode Island ranked worse than Oregon.

This ranking took multiple factors into account including earning potential, competition, patient populations, risks related to the job, incorporating state medical board penalties, malpractice payouts and the cost of malpractice insurance.

There are many reasons as to why Oregon was ranked as one of the worst states. Factors such as: the Affordable Health Care Act, a rise in the number of branded hospitals, and the impending retirement of baby boomers could potentially contribute to Oregon’s poor ranking.

The medical field is an ever-changing industry, so in order for Oregon to improve its ranking we will have to learn to adapt to these changes.
