Portland is officially exhausted. Hard to believe, but it’s true. After a whirlwind holiday season jam-packed with parties and celebrations of all sorts, most people no doubt would rather spend the weekend at home recuperating in their pajamas.

For those who still have a bit of spring in their step, never fear! We’ve managed to scrounge up a few events to take advantage of this weekend – a farewell salute, if you’d like, to the celebratory season.

Portland Children’s Museum – Free Admission
On the first Friday of every month, the Portland Children’s Museum offers free admission from 4-8 pm. If you have any kids, take advantage of the deal to spend some time exploring and playing the museum’s many exhibits and art studios, such as traversing the Zany Maze, doing construction work in Building Bridgetwon, and getting soaking wet in Waterworks. Portland Children’s Museum, 4105 SW Canyon Rd., 223-6500, 4-8 pm, Friday Jan. 2, FREE. Click HERE for more information.

Portland Trail Blazers
Your favorite basketball team the Portland Trail Blazers will be going up against the Atlanta Hawks this Saturday at the Moda Center at 7 pm. The Moda Center, 1 North Center Court Street, 797-9619, 7 pm, Saturday Jan. 3, $25-385. Click HERE to purchase tickets.

Punk Rock Monday at the Crystal Ballroom
Don’t be confused – this event is occurring this Saturday. The Crystal Ballroom is hosting the continuing Punk Rock Mondays series with no-cover, all-ages concerts. This concert will feature three Portland punk rock bands – garage-punk trio Dead Moon, hardcore band Long Knife, and instrumental rock group The Drawingboard. The Crystal Ballroom, 1332 SW Burnside St., 225-0047, doors at 7 pm, show at 8 pm, Saturday January 3, FREE. Click HERE for more information.

The Mystery of Irma Vep
Third Rail Repertory’s holiday show is drawing to a close. This weekend is one of your last chances to see this hilarious romp in which two actors playing all the roles in a mish-mosh of self-described “Victorian melodrama, farce, 50’s horror movies, Wuthering Heights, and Hitchcock’s Rebecca.” Dolores Winningstad Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway Ave., 248-4335, 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday Jan. 2-3, 2:30 pm on Sunday Jan. 4, $40.50 – 50.50. Click HERE to purchase tickets.

Of Mice and Men
Third Rail Repertory is knocking it out of the park with their theatrical performances. For just this Saturday and Sunday, they are sponsoring a taped performance of the Broadway production Of Mice and Men. This theatrical adaptation of an American classic stars hard-hitting, award-winning actors such as James Franco, Chris O’Dowd, Jim Norton, and Leighton Meester. It is definitely worth your while to take some time to watch this performance if you have the chance. World Trade Center Theatre, 121 SW Salmon St., 464-8688, 2 pm & 7 pm, Saturday and Sunday Jan. 3-4, $15-20. Click HERE to purchase tickets.
