GoLocalPDX celebrated its list of the Top 25 New Cool People of Portland at Spirit of 77 on Tuesday night.  Mayhem ensued. No, not really. Just a lot of fun and a little gossip.

So what was GoLocalPDX's party all about? Celebrating Portland's coolest of the cool—and giving praise to all who make Portland, well, so Portland. 

That's right, like the true champions that we are, we celebrate Portlanders and Oregonians. Just like the champs in '77. That's why we had the party at Spirit of 77 in Northeast Portland. Consider GoLocalPDX's New Cool party at Spirit of 77 to be the pinnacle of Portland's cool factor, or at least it was on Tuesday night.

For those who have to visit Spirit of 77, the space is  like if your Super Bowl party from last year had a baby with your New Year's Eve party, who then married the Pop-and-Shot basketball game and went on a honeymoon with all of Portland's super cool people. More specifically, Portland's Top 25 New Cool People, because after all, that's what this party was all about.

Some of those being honored include Carrie Brownstein, Toya Flick, and Steve Zakuani. They didn't make it. But those who did include David Cress, Kelly Williams Brown, Tres Shannon, Alisha Moreland-Capuia, Daniel H. Wilson, Jo Lundberg and others. 

Without GoLocalPDX, this party would be just a dream, and the coolest of Portland's cool would go on with their business. 

Speaking of GoLocal, it all started in 2009 when two guys in New England– Josh Fenton and Paul Krasinski—saw that newspapers were going out of business and those that remained were losing relevancy and readers. And that people wanted local news and they wanted to be able to access it on their computers, on their mobile phones and on their tablets. 

Most importantly, both Josh and Paul know that journalism plays an important role in democracies, and keeps politicians, non-profits, and businesses honest.

Cheers to Portland, and cheers to the community leaders, journalists, and contributors that are keeping GoLocalPDX and the quest for more local news alive.

And congrats to all the coolest people in Portland who made this list or not, you know who you are.
