Party Report: Feast Parties Kick Into High Gear In Portland
Friday, September 19, 2014
The first one GoLocalPDX attended was the Feast Sponsor Welcome Party at Jackknife Bar. Presented by Feast Portland and Regence Health Insurance, the party was a benefit for Share Our Strength and Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. Feast Co-Founder Mike Thelin and Regence Health's Scott Burton made welcoming remarks before every one dived into platters of cheese, meats and a very tasty beet salad.
Salty Night
Up next, and not officially sanctioned by Feast (but seemingly sanctioned by every important food person in town), was the Williams-Sonoma Open Kitchen and Jacobsen Salt Co. Here was a chance to see television friendly celebrity chefs such as Chris Cosentino, a past winner on Top Chef. Speaking of TC, one of the yummy items passed at that party was a pork dish from Top Chef and James Beard Award Winner Paul Qui of Qui in Austin, Texas.
Oyster Social provided oysters and Salt and Straw handed out their increasingly famous ice cream. Drinks included cocktails by Multnomah Whisk(e)y Library, wine by Union Wine Co. and craft beer by Breakside Brewery.
And, of course, there was coffee from Stumptown Coffee Roasters.
Winging It
The night ended, at least for this GoLocalPDX reporter, at chef Andy Ricker's (of Pok Pok fame) Southeast favorite: Whiskey Soda Lounge. The party, sponsored by Widmer Brewing, seemed to collect the most chefs of the night, who dined on Peter Vuong’s (of HA & VL) delicious dishes of goat curry, grilled beef, razor clam salad. And, of course, WSL’s own Ike’s Wings.
