Throughout the month of May, the
City of Gresham will be celebrating National Bike Month by offering group rides, helmet giveaways, bike washes, safety workshops and lube workshops.
Additionaly, on May 11th through the 15th Gresham will be participating in the local Bike Commute Challenge to celebrate National Bike to Work Week. Those who chose to participate in this event will receive a free breakfast on May 13th from 7 am – 8:30 am and on May 15th from 6:30 am – 8:30 am, at various locations throughout the city.
Gresham is a popular location for bicyclists, with over 117 miles of bike lanes that run throughout the city. These bike routes include: Springwater Corridor, Gresham-Fairview Trail and Main City Park Spur Trail. Because of trails such as these, Gresham was named a “Bicycle Friendly Community” by the League of American Bicyclists in 2010. In 2014, the league upgraded Gresham’s status to silver level because of their continued efforts to improve the cycling infrastructure.
