Portland Designer Fashions Oscar Gown for Cheryl Strayed

Cheryl Strayed, the best selling author of the memoir “Wild,” will wear a gown designed by Michelle DeCourcy this Sunday at the 87th Academy Awards Ceremony.

DeCourcy is a Portland based designer, and this will be her first gown to be worn at the Oscars.

Strayed and DeCourcy were introduced by the stylist, Scarlet Chamberlin, several weeks ago and connected immediately.

When asked why she recommended DeCourcy as a designer, Scarlet responded, “Michelle is the best choice for a red carpet gown in Portland. She understands the complexity of women, how they want to feel beautiful and edgy and how a gown should fit.”

Discussing the Oscars, DeCourcy showed Chamberlin and Strayed six different sketches, and Chamberlin stated that she knew right away which gown was the one for Cheryl, according to a press release.

Although details about the gown have not been revealed, we do know that both Decourcy and Chamberlin are very excited to see Strayed’s appearance on Sunday.

“The gown is timeless, elegant with a modern take on old Hollywood glamour, and it won’t be difficult to walk in. The color is pure magic on her!” said DeCourcy.

The 87th Academy Awards can be viewed Sunday, Feb 22nd at 4pm on channel 3.
