Spotted in Portland: Charlie Hales and Ted Wheeler at Blue Collar Baking

Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler

Mayor Charlie Hales

Spotted in Portland: GoLocalPDX has confirmed that Mayor Charlie Hales was seen having a "talk" with Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler on Thursday morning at Blue Collar Baking Company on Southwest Pine Street in downtown Portland.

This discussion could indicate that Wheeler is definitely going to join the upcoming mayoral race and is likely one of the last steps Wheeler needs to make before declaring his candidacy.

Sources have indicated that Wheeler said he would meet in person with Hales prior to making any announcement about his run for the city's top office.

The discussion between the two lasted for about an hour.

Portland's mayoral election is still over a year away, but that hasn't stopped incumbent mayor Charlie Hales from launching his campaign. Thus far, Hales has raised over $88,000 in donations from more than 60 donors, whose contributions have ranged from $100 to $5,000 each. Using state campaign finance records, GoLocalPDX compiled a list of Hale's 15 biggest donors, many of which are major power players in Portland's development industry.
