video: Senator Wyden Talks Oregon Priorities With Interior Secretary Sally Jewell
Tuesday, February 24, 2015
On Tuesday, Senator Ron Wyden discussed Oregon priorities with U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Sally Jewell at an Energy and Natural Resource Committee budget meeting.
Wyden stressed the importance of getting mandatory funding back for PILT, Jewell's continued support for the Upper Klamath Basin Agreement and funding for wildfire prevention.
"The system for funding of how we fight wildfires is just broken," Wyden said at the meeting. "The government borrows from the prevention firm to help put the fire out, and then the problem gets worse because we're not giving adequate attention to the prevention fund as we know we need to do."
