Woodburn Police Investigating Death of 6-year-old Boy

Friday, November 07, 2014

The Woodburn Police Department is investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy, after a 911 call Thursday night reported a child unconscious and not breathing, police reported.

Officers arrived on the scene as family members were performing CPR on the boy on the 1200 block of Independence Avenue, the police said. Woodburn Fire Department and Woodburn Ambulance also responded to the 911 call.

The boy was transported to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, according to Woodburn communications coordinator Jason Horton.

All deaths which do not occur under a doctor’s care are investigated by the Woodburn Police Department, along with the Marion County District Attorney's Office and the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy is planned later today to find the cause of death, according to the police. They will release further details in the case as appropriate.
