Friday, April 29, 2016
Charlton remains in custody at a hospital with at least one non-life threatening gunshot wound.
The Incident
Detectives say evidence from the shooting, supported by witness' statements, point to Charlton as the driver and sole occupant of the GMC Envoy which crashed into an apartment complex's fence.
Charlton was seen grabbing bags from the car before running from the crash scene.
Officer Shropshire and Gresham Officer Michael Brooder were working a partner car nearby and quickly located Charlton in the 18900 block of NE Couch Ln.
Officers Brooder and Shropsire attempted to contact Charlton as he continued east on NE couch. Gresham Officer John Heer joined them.
Within second of radioing that they were contacting Charlton, shots were fired and Officer Brooder updated that Shropshire was hit.
Charlton was wanted for a federal parole violation warrant, coming from a 1999 bank robbery that he served 13 years in prison for. He is currently faxing two counts of aggravated attempt murder, with additional charges coming.
