Thousands Still Without Power After Weekend Wind Storm

Monday, October 27, 2014

A wind storm over the weekend caused power outages.

Over 4,000 people in the Portland metro area were still without power as of Monday morning, according to Portland General Electric.

The power outages are a result of the wind storm which swept the region over the weekend, causing many downed wires, according to PGE. As of 9:20 a.m. 4,189 people in Clackamas, Multnomah, Marion and Washington Counties, were still without power.

Crews will be working throughout today to get power restored, PGE officials said.

Since Saturday, crews have restored approximately 140,000 outages and are working to repair over 400 downed wires across the service area.

“Many of the outages across the service area are small, particularly in outlying areas, which makes restoration challenging as crews move from location to location. PGE reminds customers to be safe and stay away from downed lines. Do not take the chance of removing trees or branches that are tangled with utility lines,” PGE officials said in a press release.

To report outages or downed lines, call 503-464-7777 in Portland, 503-399-7717 in Salem and 1-800-544-1795 outside the Portland area or visit PortlandGeneral.com
