Police Release Identity of Pedestrian Injured in Accident on Tuesday

The pedestrian injured in Tuesday night's crash has been identified as Kyle McGrath, 26, of Michigan. McGrath remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital.

The driver, Margaret Marie Thurber, 58, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

What Investigators Learned

Investigators learned that McGrath was with his family in a van parked on Northeast 15th Avenue when two of his family members got out of the van and crossed the 15th avenue westbound. McGrath stepped out from in front of the van to cross the street after his family was struck by Thurber.

Investigators determined that Thurber was not impaired and was driving at or below the 25 miles per hour speed limit when McGrath stepped out in front of her vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
