Oregon Counties with the Most UFO Sightings

Monday, April 06, 2015

Whether you believe in extraterrestrials or not, there are some who are convinced of their existence--in fact, they claim to have seen them with their own eyes.

SLIDES BELOW: Oregon Counties With the Most UFO Sightings

Oregon has a rich history when it comes to Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings. The term “flying saucer” originated here in 1947, and two of the first ever photographs of what where believed to be UFOs where taken near McMinville in 1950.

Our data partners at FindTheBest collected information from the National UFO Reporting Center, an organization dedicated to the collection and dissemination of objective UFO data.

By running geospatial analysis on approximately 38,000 reports, FindTheBest was able to identify which counties in Oregon have the most UFO sightings per 100,000 people.

Lake County county has reported the most out-of-this-world objects per capita, with 102 UFO sightings per 100K people. It's closely followed by Lincoln County, with 74 sightings per 100K people.
