AG Ellen Rosenblum Announces Investigation Into Kitzhaber and Hayes

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

In response to a request for an investigation from Governor John Kitzhaber Monday, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said an investigation had already been opened.

Rosenblum thanked Kitzhaber for his letter, which came one business day after she called the allegations agains Kitzhaber "very serious -- and troubling."

Rosenblum wrote she expects Kitzhaber to cooperate fully.

"Thank you for your letter. My office has already opened an investigation into this matter. I appreciate your intent to cooperate fully," Rosenblum wrote Monday.

As previously reported by GoLocalPDX, Kitzhaber asked Rosenblum for an investigation on the grounds that the unfolding situation with Hayes has become a distraction to his work in the legislature. Kitzhaber also said the Oregon Ethics Commission review was doing nothing to quell an increasing media appetite and "rush to judgement."
