Former Lover of Terry Bean, Kiah Lawson, Arrested for Sex Crimes
Thursday, November 20, 2014
Kiah Loy Lawson, 25, was arrested late Wednesday night after turning himself into police, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Bureau.
Lawson was indicted by a Lane County grand jury on sex abuse charges and two counts of sodomy, according to police.
Earlier Wednesday, Lawson’s former partner, Terry Bean, 66, was arrested in Portland, on the same Lane County indictment, for sex crimes against a juvenile male, police said.
Bean has raised over $146,000 for the Barrack Obama’s 2012 presidential re-campaign. He is a founding member of the Victory Fund and the Human Rights Campaign, two national organizations active in gay-rights. He has also personally donated close to $20,000 to Oregon politicians since 2007 including Gov. John Kitzhaber, Secretary of State Kate Brown and Portland Mayor Charlie Hales.
Bean’s attorney stated yesterday that Bean was innocent and that his arrest was part of an “extortion ring” orchestrated by Lawson.
Lawson has a criminal arrest record. He was most recently arrested in Eugene on August 14, for possession of meth, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of tampering with evidence, according to Lane County records.
On Wednesday night, Lawson was booked into Multnomah County Jail.
