Food Carts Land at Portland Airport

Portland International Airport now has food carts in it's 'Oregon Market' food and restaurant area. 

Koi Fusion and Pok Pok two of the most popular food carts in Portland, opened at the airport Friday morning and three more carts are set to open later this year, accroding to the Port of Portland. Andy Ricker is the owner and head chef of Pok Pok thai cuisine. His restaurant is nationally renowned and it all started with a food cart in Portland, now available at PDX. 

The food cart program is designed to give local small businesses a chance to operate at the airport for a low cost to see if it’s the right fit for them. 

“We welcome these new businesses to PDX and anticipate their unique cuisine will be a big hit with PDX travelers,” said Dave Pfeiffer, Port of Portland development manager. “Our new food cart program is a great opportunity for small businesses to gain exposure in the community, while giving PDX travelers an authentic street scene experience.”

The food carts coincide with an art project, Get Lost in Portland, a mural painted on the food carts by local artist Gage Hamilton. The mural depicts the diverse imagery found when traveling on foot in Portland neighborhoods, according to the port. 

Each food cart will operate on a six-month rotation to give other local businesses the opportunity to participate. All the food cart menus offer the same prices as their off-airport locations.
