Burglar Arrested for Sex Crime and Two Break-Ins
Friday, October 23, 2015
Richard Dean Defuses was booked at the Multnomah County Jail on Thursday on charges of burglary, sex abuse and unlawful use of a weapon. He will be arraigned on Friday.
Police say Defuses broke into a residence on the 2700 black of Northeast Quimby Street and began stealing any item of value he could find. While burglarizing the home, he stripped naked and climbed into bed with male and female residents of the home and kissed the male victim.
The male victim then woke up and saw Defuses sitting on top of him holding a knife. The victim pushed Defuses off of him as the victim reached for his handgun and told Defuses to stop.
Defuses quickly put pants on and fled the home, chased by the victim, who fired three shots at Defuses, each of which missed.
Defuses eventually broke into a vacant house on Northwest Pettygrove Street, where police found and arrested him. He was sent to the hospital for treatment possibly related to drug use before being taken to jail.
The victim was not injured and cooperated with police. He will not face any charges.
