FBI File: The Patriarca Papers - Entry 1
Tuesday, August 04, 2015
GoLocal will release a segment of the files along with the insights by leading experts on organized crime. In addition, GoLocal will provide a "cheat sheet" each week of some of the highlights from the documents.
“Raymond Patriarca Sr. ran the organized crime family for many years out of Providence. The Patriarca family controlled all of New England including Boston. The underboss at the time was Gennaro Angiulo who worked out of the North End in Boston and ran the Angiulo family… He was feared and respected by the criminal element,” said Tom Foley, former head of Massachusetts State Police and one of the first to blow the whistle on the FBI’s handling of Whitey Bulger.
This first segment of documents will be the smallest - just 42 pages.
Follow the release of the documents each week.
EDITOR'S NOTE: GoLocal worked on securing these documents for nearly a year via a federal Freedom of Information Act request. The FBI released to GoLocal nearly 8,000 pages of one of the most powerful men in organized crime in America and was a force for forty years.
